Park Hotel

Commercial

As the flagship of the Hannigan Hotels chain, the original 1970’s hotel was in need of a makeover to bring it up to date. As with the Cladhan Hotel, also part of the Hannigan Hotels chain, Arka was asked to convert the redundant function spaces into new bedrooms and produce a design for the recladding of the building to give it a more modern appearance. Given the scale of the project and the need to keep the hotel open and trading the project was split into 3 phases which resulted in an additional 22 new bedrooms, enhanced reception and enlarged restaurant.

Soo Studio

Commercial

Arka was appointed by one of our domestic clients to create and ancillary building to be used as a compact studio for her photography business. A versatile space of adequate volume was necessary whilst keeping the external massing of a scale which was sensitive to the building’s domestic surroundings.

An open plan main studio area with backup sanitary accommodation provides good flexible space to cater to an active, busy photographer.

The Tattie Kirk

Commercial

The Tattie Kirk is a very historic building in Falkirk’s town centre. Originally build as a octagonal church the building was deconsecrated in the 19th century and had a variety of semi-industrial and retail uses. Arka initially became involved in the building when it was in a somewhat derelict state assisting the owner to create the boutique salon Zuri and a 2 bedroomed flat on the first floor. In 2017 we returned to complete the task in the conversion of the remaining first floor area and attic space into our own offices. The building is now completely restored and is an excellent example of how old buildings can be re-purposed: a truly mixed use building with commercial, retail and residential all under one roof.
